The first link you provided on installing Dash Faction requires starting the game via the Dash Faction launcher, which is less convenient than starting it via the Steam Library for me. Dash Faction also fixes lots of other bugs and adds new core functionality like widescreen compatibility, anti-aliasing, and direct mouse input.
